We welcome new members. Membership is by invitation or audition for people from the age of 14 upwards. Opera North is dedicated to high performance standards, while supporting our members on their personal musical journeys.

All singers are encouraged to improve through their participation in Opera North concert events, and guest tutors are brought in for workshops during show periods.

The emphasis in belonging to Opera North is to enter into the spirit of fun and friendship through song, Joan’s words ring in our ears “sing for joy!”.

Opera North does not rehearse consistently throughout the year, and there is an expectation that members have some musical experience and can continue to learn their music outside of normal rehearsal times.
